WBAY-TV (WI)- The cold and cloudy weather Saturday didn't stop people from gardening at McAuliffe Park in Green Bay, where they planted a rain garden. Experts say these gardens help reduce water pollution. They're designed so runoff water enters the garden first, which absorbs some of the water before it reaches storm sewers. "Baird Creek is behind us here, and there is a lot of erosion control problems in that area, so it helps to control the runoff and it also provides a habitat and food for wildlife," James Havel of the Wild Ones organization said. Experts were also on-hand for anyone wanting to learn how to create their own rain garden.
