Preview: This urban lake setting is home to squirrels that stand up and beg, and flocks of ducks and Canada geese that liven up the shoreline. Local folklore also says that at times the lake has been a submarine training area because it is so massive in size, so watch for periscopes skimming the water’s surface. In 2005, Watersaver Company installed a lake liner to prevent leakage - OVER 2,000,000 square feet. Once the pond liner was installed, the lake is able to maintain its water level making the scenery much nicer.
Prospect Lake is popular with senior citizens, moms pushing strollers, and military personnel and their families from nearby Peterson Air Force Base. Dog walkers also come here, but dogs must be leashed. The squirrels, geese, and ducks insist on it. Walkers and joggers of all abilities will enjoy this paved trail, the park’s breezy open feel, and the mountain views off to the west. A par course with exercise stations along the trail helps adults keep fit, while kids flex their muscles on the playground equipment. Special attractions: Park scenes, barrier-free, mountain views, swimming, boating, fishing, picnicking, par course, waterfowl.
